The new Labor Secretary in Delaware has gotten high praise from a coalition of ministers and the NAACP after accusations have swirled around agency of racist atmosphere in the agency.

Patrice Gilliam-Johnson is African American and has known Governor Jack Markell for decades.

She is chairwoman of the Organizational Dynamics program at Wilmington University.

The appointment comes after 73 year-old John McMahon announced his retirement as his agency faced accusations of racism in a report by the coalition of ministers.

Federal authorities have prompted a number of universities in Delaware to be on the alert for a threat of violence.

The schools include the University of Delaware, Widener University, Wilmington University, Delaware State University and Delaware Technical Community College.

The Wilmington News Journal also reports there are some schools in Philadelphia that have also received warnings.

The paper reports that the Wilmington University website says the threat is not aimed any particular school.

United State Cyber Security Challenge

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - A cyber security camp in Delaware is celebrating its latest class of graduates.

More than 45 students from Wilmington University, the University of Delaware, Delaware State University and Delaware Technical and Community College have been attending the cyber security camp this week.

The camp at Wilmington University's New Castle campus is part of the United States Cyber Challenge, a program aimed at identifying and recruiting promising cyber security professionals.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Wilmington University is focusing a new scholarship program on homeless students from Delaware public schools.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports that the program will provide $1,000 each academic year to supplement students' financial aid.

The university will work with school districts to help identify students eligible for the program set to begin this fall. They must qualify academically and maintain a 3.0 grade point average.
