The closing of the new Allen Road transfer station for trash collection has sent the Wicomico County Executive searching for a new location.

The site was shuttered on a vote by the County Council.

That means residents who use the transfer station will have to go elsewhere by this Friday after the contract with the local property owner expires.

During a recent hearing the proposal to allow the county to purchase the 23 acres for $220-thousand drew strong opposition from a handful of local residents whose homes surround the transfer station.
