A man who had barricaded himself in his mother’s home with a rifle in Crisfield surrendered to police mid-afternoon  yesterday.

32 year old Jamie Coulbourne was led away from his home after a three hour standoff with police.

During the standoff WBOC reports that Coulbourne fired a rifle outside a rear window toward two troopers at around 11:30 a.m.

No one was hit.

WBOC reports that he came out the front door but refused to comply with police instructions.

A trooper then fired a less lethal round causing him to stumble.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Police in Wilmington say extra officers were called in to a shooting scene after a large crowd gathered and some threw rocks and bottles at officers.
Chief Bobby Cummings said after a man was shot in the chest Sunday afternoon, a crowd assembled and several officers were hit by objects. Police said Monday that the 23-year-old man was taken to Christiana Hospital in critical condition. Police say the circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation.

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - A funeral is set for a 27-year-old television cameraman who was fatally shot along with a station reporter.

Adam Ward's funeral will be held Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia, a few miles from where he worked.

Ward and WDBJ morning reporter Alison Parker were gunned down by a former co-worker on live television during an interview Aug. 26.

On Monday, Ward was remembered at a reception at his high school for his infectious personality, youthful enthusiasm and rabid love for alma mater Virginia Tech.

The Friday visit comes two days after the attack during a live broadcast. Reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward were killed.

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - WDBJ-TV has observed a moment of silence on air for its two journalists who were killed in a shooting during a live interview.

The station marked the moment of silence at 6:45 a.m. Thursday. At that time Wednesday, reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward were killed by a former employee of the Virginia TV station.

During the moment of silence, WDBJ showed photos of the two victims during the live broadcast of its "Mornin"' show.



HOCKESSIN, Del. (AP) - New Castle County police say a man found dead in a car in a Hockessin nursing home parking lot had been shot in his upper torso.

Police were called to the parking lot of Genesis Healthcare Monday evening after someone reported an Audi sitting in the lot for an unusually long time. Officers found 27-year-old Shazim Uppal of Hockessin dead.

Police say Uppal was last seen driving an Audi with Delaware registration in the Pike Creek area Sunday between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Sunday.

Homicide detectives are investigating.

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - Salisbury police say three men have been charged with the fatal shooting of a teenager in a hotel parking lot.

Seventeen-year-old Rakim Russell of Fruitland, Maryland, was shot early Sunday as he left a party at Americas Best Value Inn. He died at a local hospital.

Officers say the three suspects were involved in a fight at the party, fired into a group of people, striking Russell once.

BALTIMORE (AP) - Police say a store security guard fired at least one shot in the Mondawmin Mall parking lot while chasing a man fleeing after allegedly stealing a ring from a jewelry store.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Officers from around Delaware have escorted the bodies of two Marines killed in Tennessee last week from Dover Air Force Base.

In a Facebook posting, Delaware State Police say motor officers participated in the escort to Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday morning. From the airport, police say the Marines were set to continue to their final resting places. Police say two other Marines and a sailor killed last week will be escorted at a later date.

A confederate battle flag was stolen off private home in Glasgow with an expletive accompanied by the words “u racist” spray-painted on a boat on the property.

The homeowner Barry Binkley Jr. told the Wilmington News Journal that he had flown the rebel flag at the home for more than 15 years.

He added that he had never had any complaints.

But the incident comes amidst a backlash against the flag after the killing of nine people at a black church in South Carolina.

Personal pictures of the shooter were found displaying the rebel flag.

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - Police say two men have been shot near New Castle.

The Wilmington News Journal reports the shooting occurred shortly before 7:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Jefferson Farms neighborhood. Authorities say one victim was shot in the upper and lower extremities, while the second victim was shot in the lower extremity. Both were listed in stable condition at Christiana Hospital.

Police say both victims were taken to Christiana Hospital by a private vehicle.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The Delaware attorney general's office says two state troopers were justified in using deadly force against an armed robbery suspect who led officers on a high-speed pursuit in 2014 in Claymont.

In a report issued Monday, authorities said Corporals William Yeldell and David Hudak were justified in shooting at William McNulty after he refused to surrender, used his stolen vehicle to try to ram their cruisers, and accelerated in reverse toward them.

McNulty was a suspect in robberies earlier that day at an ATM and a convenience store.

In Dover .Delaware State Police are investigating the shooting of a 22-year old man who was found lying on the ground at the Alder Park Apartment complex.

The incident apparently occurred around 9:30 p.m. last night.

His wound was located in his upper torso and he was taken to an area hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

WBOC reports that police say it appears the victim was shot at the apartment complex on Webbs Land and then ran to Nathaniel Mitchell Road.

There is no information yet on who the suspect might be.

Dover police were on the scene this morning of a fatal shooting.

It occurred around 9:45 at the Pine Grove Apartment complex.

Meanwhile, police had advised students and staff at the Reilly Brown Elementary School to stay indoors.

The lockdown has now been lifted and police say they are certain that the suspect is no longer in the area.

Christopher Floyd now sits in an Accomack County jail for shooting a man who was trespassing on his property.

The 54 year Floyd was arraigned yesterday.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that court documents say he has lived in Pungoteague for around eight years and is currently unemployed.

He was arrested for malicious wounding, the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and reckless handling of a firearm.

Floyd shot and wounded 41 year old Louis Lillston of Greenbush.

He has been charged with trespassing.

There is now a description for a suspect in one of two shootings on the Delaware State University campus.

University spokesman Carlos Holmes said that the suspect in the second incident is an African American male between 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall with dreadlocks.

He was seen driving a four-door burgundy vehicle.

The incident occurred at the off-campus University Courtyard student apartment complex.

The university got a report of the shooting around 1 a.m.

No one was injured.

ARNOLD, Md. (AP) - Anne Arundel County Police say an officer has been shot and critically wounded and police are searching for the shooter.

Police spokesman Lt. T. J. Smith said the shooting occurred early Friday near a 7-Eleven along College Parkway in the Arnold area.

Smith says the officer made contact with a man around 2 .m. after someone reported a suspicious person in the area. He says both ran away from the 7-Eleven and witnesses then heard gunshots.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Authorities say a man kidnapped a woman, fatally shot a Census Bureau guard and led police on a car chase through Maryland and Washington, before authorities cornered him Thursday evening in an exchange of gunfire.

Officials say the suspect and a police officer were wounded.

Erika Murray, spokesman at Maryland's Prince George's Hospital Center, says the guard, identified as Lawrence Buckner, died there Thursday evening.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier says the officer and suspect were conscious when taken for medical care.

RHODESDALE, Md. (AP) - A Maryland woman has shot her husband dead after police say he may have wounded her head during a fight.

Maryland State Police say 57-year-old Nancy Tolley of Rhodesdale called 911 at 3 a.m. Sunday to report that her husband was shot. Emergency responders found 59-year-old Eugene Tolley dead in his driveway.

Police say Nancy Tolley is now hospitalized with a head injury and other complications. No charges have been filed against her.


DOVER, Del. (AP) - A federal judge has refused to dismiss an indictment against the widow and children of a man who killed two people at a Delaware courthouse.

David Matusiewicz, his mother and his sister are charged with conspiracy and stalking of his ex-wife, Christine Belford.

Belford and a friend were shot by Thomas Matusiewicz in 2013 at the New Castle County courthouse before he exchanged gunfire with police and killed himself.

Prosecutors claim the family spied on and harassed Belford for several years, including posting disparaging remarks about her online.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) - Police in northern Virginia say one shot was fired as a guard wrestled with a prisoner, who then fled a hospital with a gun setting off a lockdown and search.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a man has been shot in Dover.

It happened about 5 p.m. Monday near Daniel Rodney Drive and David Hall Road. Troopers were called to the area for a reported shooting, and found a 25-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his lower torso.

The man was taken to a local hospital, but police do not know his condition.

Officers say no suspects have been developed yet.

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office is looking into a shooting near the Salisbury Middle School last night.

Lt. Tim Robinson told WBOC one person suffered non-life threatening injuries after being shot.

He said that while the shooting occurred near the Salisbury Middle School it was not believed to be related to the school.

Police say there are no suspects at this time.

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - Police in Maryland are searching for suspects Thursday after two students were shot outside a high school basketball game.
The Wednesday night shooting at Frederick High School sent spectators of the game running for cover as frantic parents rushed to the scene to make sure their children were OK.
Frederick Police Capt. Richard Hetherington says the two students were flown to a hospital in Baltimore with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - A Delaware man sentenced to 106 years in prison for shooting into a police officer's home as two children slept has been found incompetent to stand trial in similar shootings in Maryland.
David Watson of Laurel faces 60 charges in three shootings at the homes of police officers in Wicomico County.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the 26-year-old was found incompetent to stand trial in December. A review hearing has been set in his case in Wicomico County Circuit Court for June 12.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Delaware authorities say two policemen are on paid leave after they fatally shot a man who pointed a pellet gun at them.

Dover Police say before the officers arrived at the apartment of 52-year-old James Long he called a crisis center line and said he planned to commit "suicide by cop." Police say Sunday's call is not the first time Long had made similar threats.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Officials at Delaware State University say one man has been arrested and another is being sought in the shooting of a student at an off-campus residence hall.

University spokesman Carlos Holmes said in an email that Dover Police arrested 25-year-old Marshawn Fortner of Dover Tuesday afternoon. He is charged with assault, conspiracy and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Delaware State University student has been shot at one of the school's off-campus residence halls in Dover.

Authorities say the male student was shot Monday afternoon in the parking lot of a 300-bed residence hall on U.S. Route 13, north of the main campus. The student, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It's unclear where the young man was shot and how many times.

BEAR, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police have arrested two suspects in a shooting at a shopping center parking lot in Bear.

Police announced Sunday that troopers have arrested 18-year-old Brandon Burns of Newark and 23-year-old Rebecca Evans of Newark. Police say Burns shot a 23-year-old man once on Saturday morning in the back seat of a car. Police say Burns and Evans were meeting with the man in order to buy heroin.

The shooting victim fled to a nearby business and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Court documents show a man was shot in the hand by police after he brandished a handgun in the parking lot of the Wilmington Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Charles Jobe has been charged with assault on a federal police officer stemming from Friday's incident. Authorities did not disclose at the time that he had been shot by a Department of Veterans Affairs police officer.
