HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - Mourners will gather to remember a Virginia state trooper who was killed by a gunman at a Richmond Greyhound bus station.

A funeral for Trooper Chad P. Dermyer will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton. A private burial will follow in Gloucester County.

Authorities say Dermyer was fatally shot by James Brown III at the busy bus terminal, where police were holding a counterterrorism training exercise. Brown, of Aurora, Illinois, was killed by two other state troopers after he opened fire.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police have announced funeral services for the trooper who was killed by a gunman at the Greyhound bus station in Richmond.

Trooper Chad P. Dermyer's funeral is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty Baptist Church in Hampton. A private burial will follow in Gloucester County.

Visitation is scheduled form 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the church in Hampton.

BALTIMORE (AP) - A police union attorney says the Baltimore officers who fatally shot two armed men were videotaped being read their Miranda rights after declining to give statements.

The attorney, Michael Davey, told The Baltimore Sun  that prosecutors required the Miranda warnings. He said he could not recall such a move by prosecutors in 16 years working with the union. Davey says the officers were "treated like criminals" after he advised them not to immediately give statements.

Authorities have identified an Illinois man as the gunman who fatally shot a Virginia state trooper at a bus station in Richmond.

State Police identified him as 34-year-old James Brown III of Aurora, Ill.

Police say Brown shot Trooper Chad Dermyer several times at the Greyhound bus station yesterday before Brown was killed by two other troopers.

Police have not said what motivated the shooting.

Authorities say two women were also injured in the shooting but are expected to recover.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Authorities say the death of a 24-year-old man found dead at the Port Mahon Pier in Dover has been ruled a homicide.

Delaware State Police said Friday in a statement that an autopsy determined Dontray Hendricks of Dover had been shot.

The State Police said previously that Hendricks was unresponsive when he was found at the fishing pier on Wednesday. State Police say specific details of the case are not being released in order not to jeopardize the investigation.

HARRINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a man was shot outside a home in Harrington.

Troopers said in a news release that the man standing in the driveway at a home on Flat Iron Road early Sunday. Police say there was a party at the home and someone fired several shots at the house.

Officers say the victim was shot in the lower leg and was taken to the hospital by private vehicle.

CHEVERLY, Md. (AP) - Police say they're seeking answers for why a gunman opened fire outside a police station in a Maryland suburb of the nation's capital, killing an officer in what the police chief called an "unprovoked attack."

Prince George's county police chief Hank Stawinski says the shooter opened fire on the first officer he saw outside the station around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. A gun battle followed, with several officers shooting at the suspect, who was wounded.

WASHINGTON (AP) - A federal prosecutor says no charges will be filed against a security guard who shot and killed a man wielding a knife at Union Station in the District of Columbia.

U.S. Attorney's Office spokesman Bill Miller said Tuesday there's not enough evidence to pursue federal criminal civil rights or local charges against the guard, whose identity has not been released. In a news release, the office said its staff and the Metropolitan Police Department reviewed the Sept. 11, 2015, incident.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The transit agency in the nation's capital says a man was shot on a commuter train, and two teenagers have been arrested.

Metro spokeswoman Sherri Ly (LEE) said the 24-year-old male victim was in stable condition and able to talk to detectives after the Tuesday afternoon shooting. She had no information on a motive, but said it was not terrorism. Nobody else was injured.

Ly said Metro Transit Police were seeking two other "persons of interest."

A funeral will be held for Harford County Deputy Patrick Dailey next Wednesday at the Mountain Christian Church in Joppa.

He and Deputy Mark Logsdon were killed this week in a shootout with David Evans who also died.

The shooting took place in a Panera with one officer shot and killed in the restaurant while the other died as the shootout moved outside.

There were injuries to bystanders.

Maryland State Flag

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff to honor two deputies who were shot and killed by a gunman who opened fire inside a crowded restaurant when they became involved in a shootout.

Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler said last night that authorities identified the shooter as 67 year-old David Brian Evans who was also killed in the shootout.

The sheriff said Evans had outstanding warrants for his arrest in Florida and Harford County. The sheriff added that a loaded handgun was recovered from him.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Police say a gun was fired in the restroom of a middle school in Delaware but no one was injured. Two male students, ages 12 and 13, are in custody.

A police news release says officers were called to Central Middle School in Dover about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday after staff heard a gunshot in a boys restroom. Officers say officials reviewed video footage and identified a 13-year-old student as the only person in the restroom.

BRIDGEVILLE, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a 35-year-old man was found shot to death in the kitchen of a Sussex County home.
Police said in a news release that a woman called troopers to the home on Conrail Road in Bridgeville early Thursday with a report of people breaking into the house and shots fired. When troopers arrived, police say they found the man in the kitchen with a gunshot wound to the head. Paramedics arrived a short time later and police say they pronounced the man dead.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia's governor is criticizing the president of Liberty University for urging his Christian college community to arm itself against a possible attack by a would-be mass killer.           

Liberty President Jerry Falwell Jr. made the suggestion at a gathering of 10,000 on the Lynchburg campus on Friday night, and he stood by the statement Saturday in an interview with The Associated Press.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Anne Arundel County Police say the death of a man four years after he was shot has been ruled a homicide.

Officers said in news release that in August 2011, 22-year-old Teyon Decarlos Jones was shot at a party in Glen Burnie.

Investigators say Jones died Saturday, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death was complications from the gunshot wound he sustained in 2011. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Four suspects have been charged in the shooting of Michael Brown and Keone Davis in Salisbury on October 14th.

They are Jamoni Wheeler, Ryshawn McCloud, Tavian Simmons and Morgan Hudson ranging in ages 18 to 20.

The counts include two each for attempted first and second degree murder as well as conspiracy charges.

Salisbury police say Brown and Davis were hit by a single gunshot each as they were fleeing.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the shooting arose from an argument at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Dover Police

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A man who was shot by Dover police has been indicted on felony weapons charges.

A grand jury indicted 21-year-old Terrance Fletcher Monday on one count of possession of a firearm by person prohibited and another count of carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Authorities say Fletcher was shot by police in August during a foot chase in downtown Dover. Police say they were tipped that a person was in possession of a handgun in the area.

The Delaware Supreme Court has refused to overturn the conviction of Frederick Gray in the shooting Wilmington police officer Justin Wilkers after a car chase.

Gray argued that the judge failed to grant a mistrial after the prosecution at the last minute turned over a supplemental police report in which the officer made inconsistent statements.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that Gray also argued that statements from his mother to police after the shooting should have been admitted.

The prosecution argued they were made voluntarily.

A man who had barricaded himself in his mother’s home with a rifle in Crisfield surrendered to police mid-afternoon  yesterday.

32 year old Jamie Coulbourne was led away from his home after a three hour standoff with police.

During the standoff WBOC reports that Coulbourne fired a rifle outside a rear window toward two troopers at around 11:30 a.m.

No one was hit.

WBOC reports that he came out the front door but refused to comply with police instructions.

A trooper then fired a less lethal round causing him to stumble.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Police in Wilmington say extra officers were called in to a shooting scene after a large crowd gathered and some threw rocks and bottles at officers.
Chief Bobby Cummings said after a man was shot in the chest Sunday afternoon, a crowd assembled and several officers were hit by objects. Police said Monday that the 23-year-old man was taken to Christiana Hospital in critical condition. Police say the circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation.

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - A funeral is set for a 27-year-old television cameraman who was fatally shot along with a station reporter.

Adam Ward's funeral will be held Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Roanoke, Virginia, a few miles from where he worked.

Ward and WDBJ morning reporter Alison Parker were gunned down by a former co-worker on live television during an interview Aug. 26.

On Monday, Ward was remembered at a reception at his high school for his infectious personality, youthful enthusiasm and rabid love for alma mater Virginia Tech.

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - WDBJ-TV has observed a moment of silence on air for its two journalists who were killed in a shooting during a live interview.

The station marked the moment of silence at 6:45 a.m. Thursday. At that time Wednesday, reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward were killed by a former employee of the Virginia TV station.

During the moment of silence, WDBJ showed photos of the two victims during the live broadcast of its "Mornin"' show.



HOCKESSIN, Del. (AP) - New Castle County police say a man found dead in a car in a Hockessin nursing home parking lot had been shot in his upper torso.

Police were called to the parking lot of Genesis Healthcare Monday evening after someone reported an Audi sitting in the lot for an unusually long time. Officers found 27-year-old Shazim Uppal of Hockessin dead.

Police say Uppal was last seen driving an Audi with Delaware registration in the Pike Creek area Sunday between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Sunday.

Homicide detectives are investigating.

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) - Salisbury police say three men have been charged with the fatal shooting of a teenager in a hotel parking lot.

Seventeen-year-old Rakim Russell of Fruitland, Maryland, was shot early Sunday as he left a party at Americas Best Value Inn. He died at a local hospital.

Officers say the three suspects were involved in a fight at the party, fired into a group of people, striking Russell once.

BALTIMORE (AP) - Police say a store security guard fired at least one shot in the Mondawmin Mall parking lot while chasing a man fleeing after allegedly stealing a ring from a jewelry store.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Officers from around Delaware have escorted the bodies of two Marines killed in Tennessee last week from Dover Air Force Base.

In a Facebook posting, Delaware State Police say motor officers participated in the escort to Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday morning. From the airport, police say the Marines were set to continue to their final resting places. Police say two other Marines and a sailor killed last week will be escorted at a later date.

A confederate battle flag was stolen off private home in Glasgow with an expletive accompanied by the words “u racist” spray-painted on a boat on the property.

The homeowner Barry Binkley Jr. told the Wilmington News Journal that he had flown the rebel flag at the home for more than 15 years.

He added that he had never had any complaints.

But the incident comes amidst a backlash against the flag after the killing of nine people at a black church in South Carolina.

Personal pictures of the shooter were found displaying the rebel flag.

NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - Police say two men have been shot near New Castle.

The Wilmington News Journal reports the shooting occurred shortly before 7:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Jefferson Farms neighborhood. Authorities say one victim was shot in the upper and lower extremities, while the second victim was shot in the lower extremity. Both were listed in stable condition at Christiana Hospital.

Police say both victims were taken to Christiana Hospital by a private vehicle.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The Delaware attorney general's office says two state troopers were justified in using deadly force against an armed robbery suspect who led officers on a high-speed pursuit in 2014 in Claymont.

In a report issued Monday, authorities said Corporals William Yeldell and David Hudak were justified in shooting at William McNulty after he refused to surrender, used his stolen vehicle to try to ram their cruisers, and accelerated in reverse toward them.

McNulty was a suspect in robberies earlier that day at an ATM and a convenience store.
