HANOVER, Md. (AP) - Attorneys are pursuing a class-action lawsuit against Maryland Live! Casino in Hanover, accusing its operators of using a dealer school as a prop for job training to avoid paying the minimum wage.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in federal court by three people who underwent months of training to become dealers at the casino last year. Attorneys say hundreds more qualify as plaintiffs in the lawsuit and can join the litigation.

BALTIMORE (AP) - Maryland's four casinos generated $65.3 million in total revenue for the month of September.

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency announced the revenues for the month on Monday.

Maryland Live! in Hanover, the state's largest casino, made about $50.5 million. Hollywood Casino in Perryville made the next highest amount of $6.6 million for the month. Casino at Ocean Downs near Ocean City generated $5.1 million, and Rocky Gap Casino Resort made $3.1 million.

Maryland gambling revenues may be hitting a ceiling soon with total take at $71 million in gross revenue in August.

Mark Nichols, an economics professor who specializes in the gambling industry at the University of Nevada in Reno says, don’t expect that expansion to continue.

There will be more competition in the next three years from the state’s two new casinos in Baltimore and Prince George’s county over the next three years.

HANOVER, Md. (AP) - Maryland Live! officials plan to break through the casino floor wall with sledgehammers to mark the entrance to a poker room set to open next month.

The event is scheduled for Thursday at the casino in Hanover.

The poker room is scheduled to open to the public on Aug. 28 with 52 tables. It will be 14,800 square feet.

Maryland Live! is the state's largest casino.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The introduction of table games in Maryland is positioning the state to win back gamblers after they spent millions of dollars in West Virginia and Delaware.

Maryland Live! Casino plans to offer poker, blackjack, craps and roulette beginning April 11.

The casino also is installing a new billboard targeting drivers heading home from Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in West Virginia. The message is gamblers no longer need to leave Maryland.

Maryland Live! says the games including poker, blackjack, craps and roulette will be arriving Wednesday.

The casino next to Arundel Mills Mall in Hanover plans to open the games to the public on April 11.

Gamblers were able to play table games in Maryland for the first time in early March when the Hollywood Casino Perryville rolled out its games. In November, Maryland voters approved the expansion of table games, as well as a new casino site in Prince George's County.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Maryland's largest casino says it's on track to open live table games in April.

Maryland Live! announced Tuesday that table games like blackjack will begin on April 11, pending final regulatory approval.

The casino says it will have 122 table games. In addition to that, about 50 poker tables will be added when a two-level poker room is finished by this summer.

The Maryland Senate Budget and Taxation Committee approved expansion of gambling in the state yesterday on an 11 to 1 vote.

It came on the first day of a special legislative session in Annapolis to allow table games and a sixth casino in Prince George’s County.

The measure now goes to the full Senate.

Owners of the Maryland Live! Casino in Anne Arundel county testified against the measure…fearing that the sixth casino would damage their business.

Meanwhile, William Rickman, the owner of Ocean Downs casino on the Eastern Shore, supported the bill.

HANOVER, Md. (AP) - Maryland's largest casino is opening to the public.

Maryland Live! will open Wednesday night next to the Arundel Mills Mall in Hanover.

The Maryland State Highway Administration is advising drivers to expect a high volume of traffic along Maryland Route 100 and Route 295 through this weekend because of the opening.

The casino will have about 3,200 slot machines on opening night.

Another 1,550 slot machines are set to be added in a second phase between July and October.

The casino also has five restaurants that are set to open.
