Delaware state road crews were out yesterday and overnight trying to clean off some of the secondary streets with a warning that the highways remain icy due to the cold temperatures.

The Wilmington News Journal reports there were more than a 100 crashes on Sunday spread across all three counties.

Crews were out salting the roads overnight.

Delaware Electric Cooperative said there were power outages for just over 12-hundred customers.

Most of these were in the Felton and Frederica areas.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Drivers in the Mid-Atlantic region are being warned about possible icy conditions during the Monday morning commute.

With forecasts calling for freezing rain early Monday and into rush hour, crews in Maryland, northern Virginia and the District of Columbia are applying salt to roads in an effort to keep them from freezing over.

Delmarvans are emerging from up to 10 inches of snow that struck the peninsula yesterday and into last night leaving behind single digit temperatures.

Most school systems are closed today on Delamrva.

Local and state government offices are closed while federal offices are expected to open up two hours late.
