austin and bednash website

A worker at the construction site of a sewer line that serves the Westown development in Middletown was killed yesterday.

He was identified as Jerry Hurley and he worked for Austin & Bednash Construction of Newark.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that Hurley initially was stuck in around 3 feet of dirt.

But when an inspector returned after making a 911 call Hurley was found buried in dirt.

Rescuers showed up within minutes but when they reached Hurley he was dead.

The paper said the company could not be reached for comment.
