The Wicomico County Council is set to take up the 2013 fiscal year budget on Tuesday night after a two week delay.
Among the cuts the County liability for pensions that should produce a $767,000 savings.
The County Executive was given a delay in presenting the budget to assess the impact of the state’s budget problems.
During that time Governor Martin O’Malley has said he would consider calling a special session of the state legislature to close a $500 million spending gap by finding additional revenue and avoid major state spending cuts.
Local officials also expect the special Session to provide a set of qualifications for Wicomico County to get a waiver to revisions of the maintenance of effort in school funding.
Without the special session and the waiver the county would experience a $14 million hit to its school funding line item during the budget process.
