The dispute over the White Marlin Open prize money will go to court on May 22 of next year.
Phil Heasley brought back a 76.5 pound white marlin that would have made him eligible to win $2.8 million.
But the tournament officials said that Heasley and his crew did not pass a lie detector test about abiding by the rules.
This included they said changing their start time from 8:15 a.m. to 9:05 a.m.
No one can begin fishing before 8:30 a.m.
WBOC reports that if Heasely loses the case it means that 13 other anglers will be eligible for some of the prize money.
