The Wedding Ring and The Sand in Ocean City

Don Rush

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) - A Pennsylvania woman vacationing in Maryland had her wedding band returned after losing it on the beach.

The Salisbury Daily TimesChambersburg resident Megan Walls had only been in Ocean City for a few hours Friday afternoon when the diamond ring slipped off her finger while playing football with her 7-year-old son Gunnar.

After frantically digging with help from a group of nearly 40 passers-by, she'd figured hope was lost.

Ocean City police Sgt. Dennis Eade then recruited Delaware metal detector veteran Barry Betts, and the duo recovered her ring.

Walls was on a four-day vacation with Gunnar, her husband Rodney, her mother and her mother's boyfriend. Walls says she'd been dating her husband since she was 13, and that soon they'd celebrate their six-year wedding anniversary.
