UD Student Killed in Car Accident

A University of Delaware student has been killed during a crash on Route 40.

Friends of Alexis DeFrancesco  and Alex Clark told the Wilmington News Journal that they were less than two miles one of the student’s apartments when their Nissan Altima was struck by a motorist.

Police say the driver failed to stop for a red light on U.S. 40 at Brookmont Drive.

The accident occurred around 1:15 a.m. killing DeFrancesca and sending Clark to Chistiana Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the 2007 Nissan Pathfinder was also admitted to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

He has been identified as De’aye Ewing-Wright from Bear,  Delaware.
