Trump Holds Townhall in Virginia, Tim Kaine Returns for Church Appearance

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is planning to make a campaign stop in Virginia.

Trump's campaign and his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, are expected to hold a town hall event on Monday at the Hotel Roanoke & Convention Center.

The event will begin at 3 p.m.

Trump's visit to the crucial swing state comes on the heels of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's announcement Friday that she chose Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine as her running mate.

Kaine, a former Virginia governor and mayor of Richmond, joined Clinton on the campaign trail pick on Saturday in Florida for the first time as her vice presidential pick. Clinton said Kaine is "everything that Donald Trump and Mike Pence are not."

Meanwhile, Kaine returned to his longtime parish Sunday to re-energize his faith, sing solo with the gospel choir, and ask for prayers as he's launched into the national spotlight as Hillary Clinton's running mate.

Kaine - a former choir member at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church - sang a solo during Communion and his wife, Anne Holton, spoke briefly at the end of the service, telling parishioners how important they've been in their lives.

The Kaines visited their church a day after Kaine made his campaign debut with Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

Kaine and his wife have been active members of the congregation for 32 years.
