OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) - Ocean City and state emergency management officials have received numerous reports of tremors in the resort town, but a federal agency does not show an earthquake. There have been no reports of damage.

The reports of the tremors starting coming to Ocean City officials, the Maryland Emergency Management Agency and in social media postings about noon on Thursday.

Ocean City officials posted on the town's Facebook page that residents also reported hearing a loud boom.

Bob Conkwright, a geologist with the Maryland Geological Survey, says the agency's seismograph near Reisterstown in central Maryland did pick up a signal at 11:55 a.m. Thursday, but said it was not clear what caused it.

The U.S. Geological Survey shows no report of an earthquake on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
