Toxic Chemcials Shut Down Wells in New Castle

Don Rush

New Castle officials have shut down some wells and moved to a commercial water supply after finding traces of toxic chemical used in non-stick, non-stain materials.

The Wilmington News Journal reports it’s the second time for the public water utility this summer.

Dr. Royi Sippel with the town’s Municipal Services Commission said notices were sent out to 27-hundred customers earlier this week.

Artesian Water took one of its well operations off line at Basin Road north of Frenchtown Road in mid-June when the same chemicals showed up.
