FORT DELAWARE, Del. (AP) - The 19th century fort will debut the program called "Swallowing the Yellow Dog" on Saturday. It presents the story of two Confederate prisoners mulling over signing the oath of allegiance to the United States.
The presentation was created using primary research information on prisoner life at the fort, which once housed Confederate prisoners of war.
After Saturday's presentation, the program will be offered at 2:45 p.m. on certain weekend dates in August as well as Sept. 2. The fort is accessible by ferry only. Ferry tickets cost $11 for adults and $6 for children age 2 through 12.
