Sidney Hankerson has been replaced as principal at Washington Academy & High School.
He confirmed to the Salisbury Daily Times that he has been replaced after being on the job for less than three years.
The paper reports that he said was on leave but would not add anything about the circumstances of his departure.
However, the Daily Times added he called his removal as “abrupt”.
Hankerson had been an administrator at the Princess Anne High School until he took on the job at the high school.
His transfer in 2013 came after the Somerset County School board shifted the former principal William Johnson to the Promise Academy.
