Salisbury Seeks State Funds For Downtown Beautification

Don Rush

Salisbury needs an attractive downtown.

And the city is applying for a $150-thousand state grant to distribute to local businesses to spruce things up.

The maximum a business would receive is $30-thousand dollars.

Council President Jake Day says that means at least five business owners could get some help.

Joseph Hill, who owns Main Roots Coffee in downtown, told WBOC that he’d like to see new canopies because the current ones are getting old and mild-dewy.

Council member Day hopes an attractive downtown will draw more people to the area.
