There’s been another reprieve for the Salisbury-Ocean City-Wicomico Regional Airport.
Its tower was slated to be shutdown in mid-June.
But the Federal Aviation Administration has decided to keep the control tower the airport along with four others Maryland Airports open at least for the next five months.
The decision comes less than a week after Congress approved legislation that would allow the US Department of Transportation to move $253 million to prevent furloughs and keep the towers open.
The nation was facing eminent flight delays because of budget cuts resulting from the $85 billion sequester.
Maryland Senators Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin said in a statement that the potential closure of the towers on shows that the sequester is not good policy.
