Rescues Shoot Up on Ocean City Beaches

Don Rush

The number of rescues by the Ocean City Beach Patrol has shot up this summer.

WBOC reports that there are normally around 25 a day.

That figure has risen to nearly 200.

Skip Lee with the Ocean City Beach Patrol told the television station that the summer had been normal until this past weekend.

He said that serious storm has changed the bottom of the ocean resulting in the uptick in rescues.

Lee tells those on the beach their feet should stay in the sand until a lifeguard arrives in the stand.
