Questions Arise About Cause of Death for Amy Joyner-Francis

youtube

A dispute is developing over the cause of death for Amy Joyner-Francis who died after being jumped in a restroom at Howard High School of Technology.

The Medical Examiner’s autopsy found that she died after the assault triggered a pre-existing heart condition.

But the Wilmington News Journal reports that four cardiologist with national reputations say that is not likely.

The paper cited Dr. Samuel Gidding, chief of cardiology at Nemours/A.I DuPont Hospital for Children, who said an atrial septal defect is not the cause of death.

He added that he had never heard of a sudden cardiac death from such a condition.

The paper reports that many in the community are unhappy with the charges files against the three girls allegedly involved in the fight were too weak.

One has been charged with criminally negligent homicide.

The other two face criminal conspiracy counts.
