The University of Delaware Faculty Senate has voted to push to allow in-state students to keep SAT scores from being considered as part of their admissions.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that the program would begin in 2017 and would be reviewed in four years to see if could be expanded.
The vote yesterday was the result of research that finds high school grades are a much better predictor of how well a student does in college.
Other universities have begun to back away from the SAT but the College Board which offers the test says that there is evidence it is a good indicator of how well a student will do.
The News Journal reports that the vote comes at a time when there is pressure to reduce the number of assessment tests that students are required to take in public schools.
