John Huber, president of the organization that puts on the Punkin Chunkin event, says he will not serve another term.
The announcement comes just a month after the event was canceled for the first time in its history.
And, the departure was not amicable.
In his email he called others in the organization bullies, adding, “I just don’t need it.”
Frank Shade, the spokesman for Punkin Chunkin, told the Wilmington News Journal that he had not seen the email but was hoping to learn more about the resignation.
The paper said that Huber did not immediately return calls for comment.
Shade said that after the cancellation this year emotions among those close to the annual event were still raw.
