There’s a good chance that taxes may be going up in Dover.
City officials are considering an 8-cent increase for residential taxes.
The money would go toward adding 10 new police officers.
The hike is also a product of recent property reassessments.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that residential property assessed at $229-thousand the increase would raise the taxes by $152 for a total of $962.
Meanwhile, commercial properties are also expected to get to take a hit like Dover Downs Hotel and Casino which could see its tax bill go up almost $61-thousand.
