Park Fees Going Up in Delaware

destination360.com

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Fees to visit state parks are set to go up, but officials say the extra cost is needed for upkeep.

Ray Bivens is director of the state's Division of Parks and Recreation. He tells WDEL-AM that the fee hike, set to go into effect on Feb. 15, will raise $1 million for upkeep.

The fee hikes include:

A daily visitor's pass will rise from $4 to $5 per car.

Seasonal park passes for state residents will go from $27 to $35.

Lifetime passes, available to those 65 and older, will increase from $50 to $65.

Bivens says at Delaware Seashore State Park, the state was down to one daytime crew cleaning the restrooms. He says a morning crew and a night crew are needed to keep up with cleaning.
