NEWARK, Del. (AP) - A new two-mile walking and biking trail that provides access to businesses, parks and transit in Newark is now open to the public.

The Pomeroy-Newark Rail Line passes through the downtown area, linking Main Street to White Clay Creek State Park. It also connects to the Newark Shopping Center and the University of Delaware's Laird campus.

The trail was 10 years in the making and was built with a $4.7 million federal grant and state funds. It opened on Monday.
