Julliette Bell, a biochemist, who has been called a giant in science, will soon become President of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the appointment was just announced by Patricia Florestano chair of the University System Board of Regents.
Bell has been provost and vice president of academic affairs at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio and is credited building or strengthening competitive academic science programs at universities.
The Dayton Daily News in Ohio reports that Bell was named “Giant in Science” by the Quality Education for Minorities/ Math Science Education Network and has been a visitor at the White House.
