A natural gas pipeline from Salisbury to the South Pocomoke River serving such big customers like University of Maryland Eastern Shore got a step closer this week.
The Somerset County commissioners signed a franchise agreement with Somerset Utilities.
During this week’s meeting County Administrator Doug Taylor called the decision “a very important development in growth for the region.”
The Salisbury Daily Time reports that company official Jerome Sanders said, Somerset utilities will also be looking at getting commitments from entities ranging from Eastern Correctional Institution, and Lankford-Sysco to Mountaire Farms and Chesapeake Renewable Energy.
