Michael Trotta Coming Back to Delaware After Amber Alert

Delaware Law Enforcement

EAST BROOKFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A Delaware man who allegedly kidnapped his 3-year-old daughter and brought her to Massachusetts has been held on $25,000 bail at his arraignment on a fugitive from justice charge.

Michael Trotta clutched a picture of his daughter and cried during the arraignment Wednesday.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that he later signed papers authorizing his return to Delaware where he faces more serious charges.

Police say 43-year-old Michael Trotta and his daughter were located in Spencer, Massachusetts, on Tuesday. Authorities say they believe the girl's father, who was taken into custody outside an apartment, has family in the area. The girl was unhurt.

Dawn Barkus, the girl's mother, called police in New Castle, Delaware on Monday to report that her ex-boyfriend had come to her home, assaulted her, and took Elinor.
