A top Delaware lawmaker is pushing a measure that would tighten regulations on troubled teachers.

The measure would require the Department of Education to say why a teacher lost their license not just who.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the legislation notes that from September of 2012 to September 2014 there were 105 allegations of misconduct by educators.

There were 12 times when the license was revoked and 10 when they were suspended.

The legislation comes after the News Journal and USA Today Network discovered that the patchwork of laws had allowed problem teachers to find their way back into the classroom.

House Speaker Pete Schwartzkopf (D-Rehoboth Beach) who is sponsoring the measure said that the legislation was about protecting the children in the schools.
