ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The Maryland House of Delegates is scheduled to vote on the state's $40.7 billion budget.
The vote is expected Thursday afternoon.
The House has made room in the budget to restore education funding that had not been as high as Democratic lawmakers had been hoping for in Republican Gov. Larry Hogan's budget. The House also restored a 2 percent cost-of-living adjustment for state employees.
Part of the House budget plan includes changing the state's pension funding system and paying about $70 million less in an extra payment above what is required to move the system to 80 percent funding by 2023. The House also has cut about 100 vacant jobs.
The budget measures will go to the Senate, once the House finishes Thursday afternoon.
