msa.maryland.gov

Attorney General Brian Frosh says he is looking at whether to join a legal action to halt the President’s travel ban by those from seven Muslim countries as well the suspension of the refugee program.

The Maryland Democrat said that he believes the orders are illegal and will make the country less safe.

Frosh is among some 17 state attorneys general who have expressed their opposition to the president’s executive order.

Meanwhile, both of the state’s Democratic Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen have expressed their opposition to the president’s ban.

Cardin called on Trump to rescind the order saying it was a betrayal of friends who have helped us abroad.

Van Hollen has co-sponsored legislation that would declare the orders illegal and prohibit any money from being spent on carrying it out.
