dover website

Mayor Robin Christiansen has been re-elected in Dover with nearly 14-hundred votes outdistancing his closest rival former mayor Carleton Carey who registered 622 votes.

Christiansen won a special election 10 months ago after Carey stepped down in April of last year following allegations that he violated employment and affirmative action policies as well as abusing his authority.

Meanwhile, voters ousted incumbent council members and picked five new people to fill the five open seats on the nine-seat council.

The recently-retired Dover Police chief Jim Hosfelt bested incumbent Beverly Williams in the first district.

Fred Neil beat out Chevis Anderson in the 3rd District picking up 70 percent of the vote.

Council President Dave Bonar was pushed out by challenger Scott Cole who received 59 percent also in the third district.

And Roy Sudler beat out challengers while Brian Lewis who ran unopposed in the second district.

The Dover City council has nine seat with two representatives from each of the four districts as well as one at large seat.

The newly elected city officials will be sworn in on May 11.
