The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum has begun a five year renovation that has already seen upgrades to its lighthouse and bell tower.
Located in St. Michaels the museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary and is looking to improve the experience of visitors.
In addition, the museum’s tugboat “Thor” will see food in the galley and bunks to rest on for children who play on the old vessel.
WBOC reports that officials expect to spend an estimated $10 million on the project.
