Lt. Ernest Leatherbury to Retire as MSP Barrack Commander

On July 1st Lt. Ernest Leatherbury Jr. will leave the Maryland State Police after 28 years on the force.

The 46-year-old Salisbury barrack commander announced his retirement this week but added he was not entirely sure whether he's leaving the field for good.

Leatherbury told the Salisbury Daily Times, “I'm retiring, but I still love law enforcement.”

Leatherbury is a Somerset County native and was named commander of the MSP barrack in Westminster in 2006.

He was appointed commander of the Princess Anne barrack in 2007 and transferred to Salisbury two years later.
