Captain Daniel Kirk was one of the three victims in the hot-air-balloon accident in Virginia.
And he lived and worked in the town of Hartly in Kent County.
Kirk ran the balloon business, Starship Adventures LLC.
His father Donald Kirk told WBOC that he had flown with his son many times and that he was a very safe pilot.
He said that ballooning was his son’s life.
Kirk retired and moved back to Delaware to be near his parents.
And just the day before the accident he delivered flowers to his mother for Mother’s Day.
He was also a University of Richmond women’s basketball team member.
