HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) - Authorities say a pickup truck collided with a church van in a Maryland suburb of the nation's capital, leaving four people dead, 14 others injured and the pickup truck in flames.

Fire department spokesman Mark Brady says three people in the church van were killed in the Sunday crash, including a young child, along with the driver of the pickup truck on a road in Hyattsville.

He also told The Associated Press that 14 others - six children and eight adults - were brought to various hospitals. He says eight of those people were in critical condition, including four children.

Brady says police believe the pickup truck initially rear-ended a vehicle before traveling several hundred feet farther, losing control and crossing a double yellow line into the van's path.
