Flu Surges in Delaware

There’s been an early surge of the flu season in the First State.

Delaware has seen 441 cases so far.

Last year at this time there was only three.

The Division of Public Health tells WDEL News that this represents just the tip of the iceberg.

So for, there have been no deaths but it is consider widespread.

State officials say that many of the local hospitals are being stretched thin because so many people are getting sick from influenza and other similar diseases.

Everyone who is older than 6 months is being strongly encouraged to get a flu shot.
