Firefighters Union File Complaint Againt Ocean City

oceancity.gov

The firefighters union has filed a complaint against Ocean City.

It names Mayor Rick Meehan and the city council and claims they violated the town code.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that it follows a clash at the end of last month over the work schedule.

The paper reports that at issue is a proposal for a 12 hour shift.

Currently, firefighters are required to be on 24 hours and off 72.

There have been no further negotiations since last month missing a March 1st deadline.

The complaint by the union charges that the city has failed to negotiate in good faith.

The resort officials say the demands cannot be met and that they have bargained in good faith.
