WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The Delaware Department of Justice is warning residents against fraudulent solicitations for money in the wake of the death of two Wilmington firefighters in the line of duty.

Authorities say scammers have been calling Delaware residents asking for donations in the past few days. Such scams crop up after high-profile tragedies or natural disasters.

Authorities say callers asking for money are required by state law to say what organization they're from, the charity for which the funds are being raised and if they're calling on behalf of the police.

Authorities are advising those who wish to donate to the families of the fallen firefighters to contact the Wilmington Fire Department directly.
