WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Scores on Delaware's state-issued standardized tests are largely unchanged from a year ago in the final year before the state moves to a tougher exam.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports that in grades 3 through 10, 72 percent of students were rated as proficient in reading and 69 percent were proficient in math. Last year's numbers were essentially the same. No single grade saw a change of more than 2 percent in math or reading.
This was the last year that students will take the Delaware State Comprehensive Assessment. In the coming school year, students will take the Smarter Balanced Assessment, one of two national tests designed to fit the Common Core State Standards. State officials say they expect the percentage of students rated proficient to drop significantly.
