Delaware State Police Shifts Coverage to Kent County

Delaware State Police Badge

Delaware State Police in New Castle County will now be covering parts of Kent County.

That’s what Smyrna Police Chief Norman Bordley told his town council Tuesday night.

The change is part of a realignment that has been in the works for some time and is aimed at more evenly distribute resources.

But Colonel Nathaniel McQueen says that the change will not compromise public safety.

WBOC reports that Troop 9 in Odessa will now take responsibility for an area that begins at the New Castle/Kent County line in Smyrna and extends south to Denneys Road near Cheswold.
