Delaware State Grant to Build Science Learning Center

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - The Delaware Academy of Science has received a $233,000 state grant to help build a learning center on its property in Newark.

The News Journal of Wilmington, Del., reports the money will go toward the construction of sewer and water facilities for the center. The 2,800-square-foot building would be located about 300 feet away from the academy's Iron Hill Museum.

The academy's past president, Jim Neal, says the academy will begin soliciting bids for the project and a groundbreaking could be held as soon as November.

The academy operates the 19-acre Iron Hill property as part of a 99-year lease agreement with New Castle County.
