Delaware Horse Rescue Group Seeks Funds for New Home

LAUREL, Del. (AP) - A Delaware horse rescue group has outgrown its facility and is seeking to raise funds to buy a 30-acre plot of land near Georgetown.

WBOC-TV reports that Changing Fates Equine Rescue of Delaware, Inc. was awarded a $135,000  grant to help it expand and must raise $130,000 on its own.

The group currently rents a seven-and-a-half acre plot near Laurel, but it is at capacity and has had to turn away horses.

Board member Robin Weinkam says the new property would allow the group to rescue twice as many horses.

The group has helped more than 120 abused, neglected and unwanted horses since it was founded in 2005.
