Delaware Developer Investigated for Alleged Campaign Contribution Violations

bbcpropertiesinc.com

Delaware state prosecutor E. Norman Veasey is investigating campaign donations by Michael Zimmerman even as the Dover developer faces bank fraud charges by federal officials.

Veasy says he is trying to figure out whether Zimmerman attempted to circumvent legal campaign contribution limits.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that state records show the real estate developer, his relatives, his companies and his business partners contributed a total of $14,600 to Governor Jack Markell’s campaign in October 2008.

The paper reports that Zimmerman’s lawyer did not respond to request for comment on the investigation.

Zimmerman also was indicted by a federal grand jury in January for bank fraud and money laundering.

He pleaded not guilty in the federal case.
