DOVER, Del. (AP) - A Delaware judge is mulling whether a 16-year-old girl charged with homicide after a high school restroom fight that left another 16-year-old girl dead should be tried as an adult.
Following a Family Court hearing last week, the judge was expected to rule Friday whether the defendant will be tried in Superior Court on charges of criminally negligent homicide and conspiracy.
The girl is accused of repeatedly hitting Amy Joyner-Francis in a premeditated attack April 21 at Wilmington's Howard High School of Technology. Two other girls are charged with conspiracy in the incident, which was captured on cellphone video.
A medical examiner said Joyner-Francis, who had a pre-existing heart condition, suffered sudden cardiac death, with a contributing factor of physical and emotional stress due to physical assault.
