Maryland Transportation Authority

A Salisbury woman was killed in a car accident yesterday going the wrong way just west of the Bay Bridge on Route 50.

The authorities say 22 year-old Laura Murphy died at the scene after her Volkswagen hit another vehicle head-on.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that authorities say they had received reports of her going the wrong way but were unable to reach her.

Meanwhile, the paper says that a 14-month old boy was airlifted to Johns Hopkins Hospital but his condition is not immediately known.

66-year old Robert Skidmore who drove the other car -- a Mercedes SUV -- was pulled from the wreckage but later died of his injured at Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

The driver of a third vehicle involved in the crash was uninjured and his Nissan had minor damage.
