WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware's governor and the mayor of Wilmington have expressed their condolences to the family of a man shot and killed by Wilmington police.

Gov. Jack Markell and Mayor Dennis Williams joined scores of people at a vigil Thursday evening for Jeremy McDole, who was killed Wednesday afternoon. The crowd prayed for healing, unity and justice. But some also vented their anger while the two elected officials listened quietly.

"The officers lined up as if they were in a firing squad," Robert Vozell, a friend of the family, angrily said, adding that the family needed financial help to bury McDole.

Williams pledged that he would try to help the family. "After that, we can pick up the pieces and go from there," he said.
