City of Crisfield and Its Captain Won't Sail in Skipjack Race

This year’s Skipjack races will be minus one participant.

The 57th annual event on Labor Day will be missing the famed City of Crisfield and its captain Daddy Art Daniels.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the Skipjack is in dry dock with efforts underway to refurbish the famous vessel.

The paper reports that Daniels is in an assisted living facility in Crisfield.

The Reverend Bob Daniels told the paper that the family is seeking funds to help restore the ship and hopes that one of their number will take up command in the future.
