DOVER, Del. (AP) — Representatives of Delaware's gambling industry are gathering to discuss a new law authorizing online betting and more venues for sports wagering and other gambling.
The state Video Lottery Advisory Council was scheduled to meet Tuesday afternoon at Dover Downs to discuss the new law, which allows online slots and table games. It also allows gamblers to bet on keno and NFL football at venues outside Delaware's three casinos.
Markell administration officials say revenues from the expanded gambling opportunities will allow them to eliminate $4 million in annual slot machine fees paid by the casinos and cut their table game fees from $6.75 million to $3 million.
In return, the casinos must spend an equal amount on traditional business expenses such as marketing, capital improvements and debt reduction.
