EDGEWATER, Md. (AP) - Authorities say they've found the body of a man who jumped from a boat into the South River to retrieve his hat and didn't resurface.

Maryland Natural Resources Police identified the man Sunday as 47-year-old Joseph Vincent Rossi of Edgewater.

Police spokeswoman Candy Thomson says Rossi took his wife and two children out on the Chesapeake Bay in a rented boat Saturday. She says they were headed home and near Turkey Point when the wind blew his hat into the water and he jumped in to get it back. Other boaters helped control the boat and search for Rossi.

Emergency crews responded and began looking for Rossi. His body was found Sunday morning and was taken to the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
