legis.delaware.gov

There’s legislation in Delaware that would allow students the opportunity to report cases of sexual assault to the police in addition to school officials.

In addition, the measure would force colleges to make information about such incidents more public along with their outcomes.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that state Representative Kim Williams and House Majority Leader Valerie Longhurst announced yesterday that they are ready to act on the legislation.

Williams said that as a mother of a daughter in college the school need to do a better job of keep students safe.

The News Journal reports that the bill would also require universities to provide training for both employees and students in dealing with incidents of sexual violence.
